Stock up and save on 5 yummy snacks that are just a click away on amazon.com.
Yeah, yeah, grabbing a piece of fruit, some veggies or a handful of nuts should be our first choice at snack time. But some days we all need something a little more exciting! So, I like to keep my pantry stocked with a variety of (mostly) healthy snacks that I can still feel good about eating and sharing with my family when we’re not in the mood for fruit or veggies!
No need to make a run to the grocery store, you can stock up on healthier snacks from Amazon.com! After comparing with prices at the stores, I have found that Amazon often beats them in price! Plus, Amazon offers larger quantities of each item, so you won’t run out as quick.
Below are 5 of my favorite (mostly) healthy snacks that I always purchase from Amazon…
1. Health Warrior Organic Pumpkin Seed Bars
Health Warrior Organic Pumpkin Seed Bars, Variety Pack, 12 Bars (affiliate link)
If you like Pumpkin Seeds, you’re going to love these bars! They’re a great way to add pumpkin seeds to your diet along with all the nutritional benefits. Pumpkin seeds (also known as Pepitas) are an excellent source of magnesium, manganese, iron, copper, zinc, and antioxidants such as carotenoids and Vitamin E.
Pumpkin seeds are a beneficial source of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids (the good kind of fat). This crunchy seed also has anti-fungal and antiviral properties to boost your immune system.
You’ll have your choice of the Variety Pack (Dark Chocolate, Dark Chocolate Peanut, Honey Sea Salt), or single flavor boxes like Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond or Maple Sea Salt.
Each bar is made with clean, real ingredients, has around 170 calories, 2 grams of fiber, 6-7 grams of natural sugar, and an impressive 8 grams of protein. I love to pair my bar with an orange for the perfect afternoon snack!
2. Health Warrior Chia Bars
Health Warrior Chia Bars, Tropical Variety Pack, 15 Bars (affiliate link)
Looking for a way to add nutritious Chia Seeds to your diet? This bar is it! I adore these tiny bars that are packed with white chia seeds (1st ingredient), are low in sugar (3 grams) and high in fiber (5 grams).
Chia seeds are another great source of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, are rich in antioxidants, and are an excellent source of fiber, iron and calcium.
It’s best to mix chia seeds in something (like a smoothie, yogurt, or in baked goods). But, I hardly ever buy chia seeds on their own. My favorite way to enjoy the nutritional benefits of chia seeds is with these yummy bars!
My favorite is the Tropical Variety Pack with Mango, Coconut and Mixed Berry. I’ve also tried the Chocolate, Breakfast, and Dessert Variety Packs. They’re all good!
For being such a small bar (3-4 bites), Health Warrior Chia Bars are actually quite filling and satisfying. Each bar is vegan, 100 calories, 5 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein, and only 3 grams of sugar. Great as a post-workout snack or I’ll often enjoy a bar with breakfast alongside my scrambled eggs and fruit (instead of having toast).
3. Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate Squares
Yes… dark chocolate can be a healthy snack! And you better believe my pantry is constantly stocked with plenty of chocolate! I don’t think a day goes by where I don’t enjoy a quality piece of dark chocolate.
In moderation, dark chocolate with 70% or higher cacao, can be beneficial to your health. Cacao is a plant that contains antioxidants such as flavanols and polyphenols. Studies have shown that these antioxidants can help lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels, reduce insulin resistance, reduce inflammation in your body, and improve brain function.
Moderation is still key because chocolate is rather high in fat (from cocoa butter) and sugar. But, the darker the chocolate the lower the sugar, so ditch the milk chocolate!
The Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate 86% Cacao squares are perfect for portion control because one square contains 60 calories, 6 grams of fat, and only 1.3 grams of sugar. The package actually states a serving is 3 squares, but I find that 1 square is totally satisfying.
I enjoy one square a day, usually after lunch, or as a pick-me-up mid-afternoon snack (beware of the caffeine)! A pack of 6 bags from Amazon provides 66 squares!! Also available in 72% Cacao and 92% Cacao.
$18 for 6 – 4.12 oz bags on Amazon (that’s $0.27 per square) – I notice that this product goes out of stock often, so keep checking and wait to purchase when they are available through Prime.
4. Simply Cheetos Puffs & Simply Organic Doritos
Simply Cheetos & Doritos Mix, Variety Pack, 36 Count (affiliate link)
This is why I had to add “Mostly” in front of “Healthy Snacks” in my title! We all know that Cheetos and Doritos are not healthy snacks! But, the reality is that my kids and I do enjoy chips, etc., so I will buy them once in a while.
Believe it or not, as far as snack chips go, these are not all that bad. Both are made with Expeller-Pressed Sunflower Oil, which is rare to find. The words “expeller-pressed” are key. In a nutshell, it simply means the oil is squeezed out of the seed physically, by using a press. Unlike regular cheaper oils, which use chemicals (such as hexane) to extract the oil, often leaving traces of the chemical behind. So, products made with expeller-pressed oils are always a better choice.
Cheetos Cheddar Puffs and Doritos are a family favorite, so this pack of 36 on Amazon is a great deal (18 bags of each). These single size bags are great for portion control. Each bag is about 130 calories, 7 grams of fat (mostly polyunsaturated and monounsaturated), 14 grams of carbs, and 0 grams of sugar. The sodium is 150 mg for Simply Organic Doritos and 240 mg for the Cheetos Puffs.
Definitely not health food, but still a better choice than regular Cheetos and Doritos. Enjoy a bag with an apple or some grapes!
5. Teavana Unsweetened Strawberry Apple Green Tea
You may be wondering why I have a drink listed under Snacks. I’m guilty of not drinking enough throughout the day, so when snack time comes around I like to enjoy a tasty beverage to help me meet my daily quota. Since I get bored with drinking water, I try to keep a variety of healthy drink options around to choose from.
Although it’s important to stay hydrated throughout the day, it’s also important to be aware of how many calories and how much sugar we consume through our drinks. Sticking to drinks with 0 calories and zero to minimal sugar is ideal. Otherwise, the calories in drinks can start adding up fast!
I love iced tea, and I recently discovered these Teavana Craft Iced Teas. I was buying a couple each week from the store until I realized I could buy a pack of 12 from Amazon and save some money! The Strawberry Apple Green Tea is unsweetened and delicious. Sometimes I’ll add a packet of Stevia, but usually, I’m fine with the natural taste.
The Strawberry Apple Green Tea has 0 calories, 0 grams of sugar and 0 grams of sodium. There is about 20 mg of caffeine. Teavana also offers some Herbal teas like Pineapple Berry Blue and Passion Tango, although these and other varieties do have added sugar (about 21 grams per serving).
