Although it dIdn't make me cry it was sad. However, her abduction at age ten during a family celebration in Big Sur permanently changed the course of her life. This book is set in two time periods and from two points of view—Sara (present day), and Mags (1960 through present day). The drawn out dialogue between the characters with so many unnecessary lines...it felt like the author must have had a goal of no less than 450 pages and just kept throwing stuff in there to make the book longer. Instead, she learns Mags has willed The Hideaway to her and charged her with renovating it--no small task considering her grandmother's best friends, a motley crew of senior citizens, still live there. It was also only my second stroll with Nora Roberts. Alys Murray has hit another home run for me with this book. Also, I love to Skype with book clubs if you're interested.
